Trump's a fool, but the folks running his campaign did a good job.
The outreach to black males and Latinos bore a lot of fruit, and you can even see being able to sustain decent portions of those groups as durable members of the GOP coalition. So kudos earned.
But at the end of the day, he'll still end up almost 5,000,000 behind in the popular vote (that's a an ass whuppin'), will have lost two sunbelt states that have been owned by the GOP for decades, will have done lasting damage to the previous hammerlock the GOP had on senior and suburban female voters (two of the most reliable groups in terms of turnout) and will be on the wrong side of a 306-232 electoral college beatdown. All versus an 80-something with a stutter.
So some soul searching due on both sides, I'd say. And warranted -- both parties have presided over and played active roles in an increasingly appalling shit show.
